Duke Paoa Kahinu Mokoe Hulikohola Kahanamoku (August 24, – January 22, ) was a Hawaiian competition swimmer who popularized the sport of surfing. A Native Hawaiian, he was born three years before the overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom.
