Lepa Brena (lit. pretty Brena; nee Fahreta Jahic) was a Yugoslav folk-pop sensation and the top-selling female recording artist in socialist Yugoslavia. Born into a working-class Bosnian family, she moved to Belgrade to attend university, but her studies were soon interrupted as her performing career skyrocketed after her appearance on a Belgrade TV show in 1982.
